Equine infectious anemia (EIA) is a blood-borne viral disease that can infect any equine species and is greatly concerning, because no treatment or vaccine is available. To help reduce EIA spread, a Coggins test should be performed every year to ensure horses are negative, especially if they travel or contact other horses.
