Advanced diagnostics saves lives

Veterinary diagnostics are important to identify health issues, ensure a correct diagnosis, and to allow our veterinary team to devise an appropriate treatment plan. At Endless Mountains Veterinary Center, we leverage advanced diagnostic tools, such as our in-house laboratory, X-rays, and ultrasound, to ensure we have the information necessary to diagnose and treat your pet properly.

Diagnostics

X-rays (i.e., radiographs) provide an internal view of your pet’s body, and are the most commonly used imaging technique in veterinary medicine. X-rays are extremely useful for identifying boney and soft tissue abnormalities in the chest, abdomen, sinuses, and musculoskeletal system. They can also help detect conditions such as:

Fractures
Arthritis
Pneumonia
Gastrointestinal obstruction
Benign and malignant tumors
Abnormal fluid accumulation
Pregnancy
Dental disease

Radiography

With an in-house laboratory, our veterinary team can provide fast, accurate results when your pet is sick. We may need to send some specialized tests to an outside laboratory, but we can run many diagnostic tests in-clinic, including:

Blood work — Blood work can evaluate your pet’s hydration status, organ function, electrolyte levels, clotting ability, immune function, and more.
Urinalysis — A urinalysis helps our veterinary team assess your pet’s urinary tract, as well as several other organ systems.
Parasite screening — Routine parasite screening is important to check for dangerous parasites, such as heartworms, roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, coccidia, and giardia.

In-house Laboratory

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses ultrasonic sound waves to produce images of body structures. The sound waves travel through the body and are reflected back to the transducer when the beam hits a boundary between tissues (e.g., between fluid and soft tissue, or tissue and bone). When these echoes reach the transducer, the ultrasound scanner generates a two-dimensional image. Ultrasound is used for many purposes, including:

Evaluating the heart’s structure and function
Diagnosing conditions that are difficult to image using X-ray
Measuring tumors or organs
Guiding needle biopsies
Collecting fluid samples

Our in-house diagnostics allow us to diagnose most common conditions quickly and accurately, so we can begin treatment immediately. In cases where more extensive or advanced diagnostics are required, we partner with local veterinary specialists and outside laboratories to provide the answers you and your pet need.
